Come Home to First Baptist
The Living Nativity is a wonderful opportunity for the family to come and enjoy the retelling of the Christmas story through live characters, animals, and narration. The front steps of the church are transformed into a manger scene with period animals and actors moving to narration and music. The program itself is short, about 10 minutes, but there is time for the children to visit the animals and the family to fellowship with refreshments and friends. The program starts at 6:00 p.m. and runs on the half hour until 8:00 p.m. in front of the Sanctuary on 12th Street.
Living Christmas Tree
This is a worship event that First Baptist started in this area 20+ years ago. We will have from 45-70 voices in the tree where we will sing and have drama to the sides. We also usually sing with a 25 piece orchestra. When the sanctuary is completely decorated it is a beautiful and awe inspiring sight.
Music Dramas and Music Events
We have done many musicals and sacred concerts over the years that have been a challenge to the choir and a blessing to the congregation. We have done classical (Rutter’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah to name a few) and contemporary with sets and drama.
Keyboards at Christmas
Coordinated by our organist Janie Lee Bullock this unique worship service will use from 4-6 grand pianos plus organ. In 2007 we debuted our signature piece composed by local composer Dr. Robert Rumbelow of Columbus State University Schwob School of Music. With candles and Christmas decorations it is a wonderful Christmas experience.
