What all people need is an encounter with our risen Lord.  But not just a one time experience.  Rather, Christian faith is something that takes a lifetime to grow.  It was once said that, 'one does not surrender a life in an instant.  That which is lifelong can only be surrendered in a lifetime." This is FBC Youth's philosophy in a nutshell.  We strive not only to introduce you to Christ, but to show you how to grow in Him.

The only hope for today's teens is the only hope for our world--a daily, personal relationship with Jesus Christ that transforms everything about you.  That is what we strive to instill in the Youth who are a part of the ministry of First Baptist Church--a love for Jesus that keeps them strong throughout life.

What To Expect From the FBC Student Ministry:

Sunday School
classes meet at 9:45 a.m. Sunday mornings.  Sunday School provides a time when we gather together to study God's revelation to us.   This small group time will always be a focal point for the student ministry--a time to help our members grow in their faith and to introduce our guests to the love of Jesus Christ.

The
Youth Choir meets each Sunday evening at 5:00 in the Music Suite.  The choir learns anthems and musicals to be periodically presented in worship as well as in conjunction with mission trips.

God has called us to be involved in our community and to reflect His love to all people.  Helping others is what being a Christian is all about.
Acteens (for girls) and Just for Guys are two mission groups which meet weekly to learn about and do missions.  The youth group as a whole is involved in various local mission opportunities throughout the year as well as an out-of-state summer mission trip.  The Acteen and Just for Guys groups meet each Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the YAB.

Wednesdays also provide an opportunity for fellowship during the weekly Youth Dinner at 6:00 p.m.  (Cost--$3.00)  Following dinner is the Wednesday Night Bible Study (6:30--7:30 p.m.)  Bible Study time is a great time for fun, music, and games as well as serious discussion and Bible study.  During the study time, we look at everyday issues and learn how our faith can help handle these situations.  Guests are always welcome!

Retreats provide times for youth to get away from home, make new friends, grow closer as a group, grow in faith, and have fun.  There's a West Virginia ski trip, a Spring Break fishing trip, and a Back-to-School retreat.

Summer Activities include outings to ball games, swim parties, scavenger hunts, and trips to places like Six Flags.

DiscipleNow is a program that provides small-group, in-home Bible study and discussion groups, worship times, and great fellowship.
