The Missions Ministry is a vital part of First Baptist Church. The ministry seeks to carry out: the mission statement of the church Loving none more than Christ, loving others as ourselves, we strive to reflect God's love to all as well as the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19, 20). We believe mission involvement emerges from the natural outflow of worship and is the natural result of discipleship.

international MISSIONS

When a person is a member of the First Baptist Church Family, there is a sense of mission and calling that is encouraged in their lives.  Everything that is done is in the light of the call of this church to be a place of mission and service for Jesus.  Each generation has embraced this and the creativity in carrying out the mission of the church is inspiring.  Missions is performed from the hearts of individuals responding to opportunity and need, not from programs.  Members of our congregation have participated in international mission projects in Liberia, Germany, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Nicaragua, Viet Nam, Cambodia, the Philippines, the Bahamas, Haiti and many other venues of need.

REGIONAL MISSIONS

The mission is not just international.  Members have participated in mission engagements in Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Montana, Tennessee, the Carolina’s and many other states. These were often as a result of disasters requiring help or pockets of opportunity that needed a little love, grace, work, ministry and the Gospel.

LOCAl missions

Locally, we have had Victory Mission, a fully engaged mission to individual in the South Columbus area, for almost 40 years.  There, our members teach the Bible, GED courses, tutoring and life skills, while building fellowship and strong lives of faith.  They offer Bible studies, worship services, fun activities and even a Christmas pageant.  Like our Victory Mission ministry page on facebook at FBC_Columbus_Victory_Mission.  There are ministry points all over the area including our Second Story Ministry to College Students and Young Adults in Uptown Columbus.  We partner with other agencies in our community, supporting their good work while not duplicating it.  These agencies are: Open Door Community House, Homeless Resource Network, SafeHouse Ministries, Valley Rescue Mission, Hope Harbor, Valley Interfaith Promise, MercyMed and others.

We also have a long-running Food Closet ministry that serves food and love to the needy of our community. For more pictures from our exciting mission projects, visit our Instagram account at fbc_columbus_missions.
